this says possible tropical cyc dev in next 36 hrs but it looks well organized to be well sooner than that unlike the crap ive seen out there in the previous weeks

im new to south florida is this how the big boys form? when i was out in california i wasnt monitering tropical depressions/waves.

is this the bowling alley (that my coworkers call it) ramping up?

I've never heard it as the bowling alley. That's cute. I usually call it the train. It's about the right time of the year for the Cape Verde stuff to start acting up.

Some of the Cape Verde storms can form into the big boys, but it's not necessarily dependent on where it forms--more important are the atmospheric conditions.

By the way, I just got back from South Florida--very nice area.

Hey! I'm in S. Florida! I'm in Fort Lauderdale- where are you?

Yeah, August & September are the worst months for Florida for hurricanes. Last year (which was my first hurricane season down here), they told me that if August doesn't get ya, September will. ;)

I'm watching the cape verde system as well. If it starts developing, I'll start tracking it.

funny i was just up in davie the other day to pickup some coral frags for my reef tank from a friend. i relocated here from LA in feb.

im in homestead/florida city south of you. we're right where the turnpike ends.

that cape verde system looks REALLY organized, im sure in no time its going to be tropical storm irene.

I'm easily amused, so it's quite neat to discover that I was in your town (driving through to the Keys) and in [info]helenangel's town as well (we landed and took off from Fort Lauderdale). It's a nice area!!
